When people ask Dr. Leslie Rosenfeld to describe herself, she does not hesitate. First and foremost, she is an educator.
In April 2005, Dr. Rosenfeld earned her Doctorate in Administration and Supervision from Florida International University. Her dissertation focused on effective strategies to eliminate truancy from the early years through high school. She also has a Master's Degree in English from the University of South Florida and a Bachelor’s Degree in English from the University of Florida.— all of which she earned while working full-time and raising a family.
After graduating from University of South Florida, she joined the Miami-Dade County Public Schools system, where she held various leadership positions as an educator and administrator.
After serving as an administrator, Leslie joined the City utilizing her knowledge of adult learning principals and education to support the organizational change underway in Miami Beach. She currently serves as the Chief Learning and Development Officer in Miami Beach’s City Hall and periodically teaches doctoral level classes in Organizational Behavior and Organizational Theory at a local university. Leslie has been integral to the development and success of organizational learning across the City and ensures that all staff members understand their role in the achievement of the City’s outcomes and mission.
Dr. Rosenfeld has presented at numerous conferences including the American Educational Research Association, City/County Government Sterling Forum, Annual Quality Congress, Florida League of Middle Schools and the Florida International University Writing across the Disciplines. She serves on the President’s Council at Florida International University and has also served as a Florida Governor Sterling Examiner.
Leslie has served at the City Manager’s liaison to the Quality Education Committee for more than a decade. As liaison, she developed the City’s Education Compact with Miami-Dade County Public Schools, and under her leadership and guidance as the City’s Chief Learning Officer, all Miami Beach public schools are implementing the International Baccalaureate Program, provide behavioral health services, and a robust dual enrollment offering. Additionally, university partnerships have flourished with over fifty (50) students provided paid internship opportunities.
Leslie has a quarterly column in the MB magazine, keeping residents informed of the City’s youth related programming and special programs developed in partnership with City public schools that provide equity and access to all children.
Dr. Leslie and Bryan Rosenfeld have two sons: Aaron and Jacob. Like their mother, the boys are being raised in the City of Miami Beach.
